Japanese and me go way back, I've been obsessed with Japanese since I was 14 years old.
Since then, I've interpreted, translated, lived in Japan, and helped over 2,000+ people learn Japanese. I’ve been teaching the language for over 10 years now, and I can safely say that watching students get excited over their progress never gets old.
It’s my greatest passion, and yep, you guessed it — it’s my greatest goal to help people learn it, too.

When I started learning Japanese, it was dry, difficult & textbooky (not a word, but a very real thing).
Fast forward 10 years and now it’s a confusing mess of apps & free resources that don’t encourage actual results. Hands up everyone who's tried to learn Japanese, downloaded Duolingo and had a very intense week long fling, never to open the app again?
For years, I thought... why is it so hard? Why is there no in between and why is there a total lack of resources for people that actually want to learn? You can do a course about knitting! From your phone, with beautiful videos and instructional resources. So why the heck does this not exist for Japanese? This drove me mad enough to spend a year and a half building it myself.
I’ve thrown my heart & soul into this course. After years of teaching & interpreting, I’ve put everything I know into these pages. And I couldn't be more excited to share it with the world.

I started off learning what I could through apps, and using a textbook that was recommended to me by a friend. I felt like I was doing pretty well until I got to verb conjugation in the textbook, then I felt lost in the sauce. I found Aimee through @lisainjapan on Instagram, and reached out to see what her thoughts were.
